HUNGARIAN HERITAGE:ROOTS TO REVIVAL
The Hungarian Embassy is looking for volunteers to help promote Hungarian culture, including folk art and cuisine at the upcoming Smithsonain Folklife Festival in Washington, DC June 25-30 and July 2-7. Volunteers will be asked to tell Festival visitors about our rich traditions, history, past and present and help Festival participants arriving from Hungary in presenting their art, craftsmanship and share their stories.
The Smithsonian Folklife Festival is an annual 10-day event, held each June-July on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., celebrating cultural traditions from around the world. This year Hungary, as the guest country of the Festival, will be presenting its cultural heritage, folk art as well as traditional and modern Hungarian gastronomy. The Folklife Festival, usually attended by over a million visitors, features music and dance performances, crafts and cooking demonstrations, storytelling, as well as discussions of cultural issues. The Hungarian theme of the 2013 program will be “Hungarian Heritage: Roots to Revival.” Read more at:
